嘉門が影響を受けた洋楽をつまんでおります、しばらくお付き合いを。

小6のときもらったラジカセにFMチューナーがついていて、AMなんて比べ物にならない音の良さを知り、本格的な洋楽ロックに出会った。
ラジオから直接カセットテープに録音することを覚え、大好きな曲がかかるのを待った。
カセットテープがまだまだ高価だった時代。

「Hotel California」(EAGLES)

76年、同名アルバム収録。
ウエストコーストと言えばイーグルス、未だ現役、押しも押されぬアメリカのトップバンド。
黄金期と言っていい当時のメンバーは
Don Henley(Dr)、Glenn Frey(G)、Don Felder(G・Key)、Joe Walsh(G)、Randy Meisner(B)

Gibson SGダブルネックの12弦ギターで奏でられる有名なイントロ、チューニングがキッチリしているやや固めの音。
ややハードなギターのアウトロ、バッキングはジョー・ウォルシュの影響が強い。
言うまでもないが、ドン・ヘンリーのしゃがれたセクシーなボーカルはマネして歌いたくともマネはできない、まさにミスター・ホテルカリフォルニア!?

サビの『Welcome to the Hotel California』で“the”を『ジ』と発音しているが、これは「この」「その」「まさに」といったように強調する言い方だという。
酒のスピリッツと掛け、スピリットをなくしたアメリカンロック、アメリカを嘆き警鐘を鳴らしている部分もある。

祐助さん、こんにちは。膀胱炎らしきものは昨日の晩で治まったと思いきや、第二の悲惨な戦いがまたスタートです。

「ホタルカリフォルニア」はさんま師匠が１２年前にやったドラマ「その気になるまで」の主題歌でした。

この曲はジプシーキングスもカバーしていますが、ギターがいい味出していますよ。

今度ジプシーキングスやろうかな。

今日まさに聴いてました。いろんなとこで見るたびにいつも同じライブ映像なんですが、引き込まれます。ラストのギターのかけ合いは呼吸すら忘れるほど!?
一昨年のＡＡＡは最高でした。。。

カズ87さんこんばんは。
この頃のミュージックビデオってこんな感じでしたが、演奏も生ってのがすごい。
冒頭の「Seven Bridges Road」はスペシャルなおまけです。

いつもながらラストのギターは音楽の楽しさ、素晴らしさを再確認させてくれますよね。
